Today, members of the mission team from Calvary Baptist Church, Clearwater, Florida visited a neighborhood in the poorest part of Guatemala City. We are in anticipation of Judgement House tonight because almost the entire neighborhood has been invited and we are expecting three bus loads of people from the neighborhood. This is an area of the city that Shalom Baptist Church is reaching with the Gospel of Christ.

Over 100 people in 2 nights of Judgement House have made first time decisions for Christ. There are 2 more nights to go and we are all very excited about how God is using our mission team and Judgement House. Shalom is planning on presenting Judgement House again in November and we have handed the torch over to them and they are doing a marvelous job.

Patti and Jim Feldman, the Guatemala mission team leaders, have met with Pastor Cruz from Zacapa, and plans are in place for the August and November mission teams. Future mission teams will be focused in Zacapa, a small city a few hours from Guatemala City.

Prayer-Please pray for the many gang members who come through Judgement House. When they make a decision for Christ, as glorious as that is, their life is then in danger because their changed lifestyle is not tolerated by their fellow gang members.

Jugement House Goes Live

We have been praying throughout our time with Judgement House and Shalom, during the construction, before and after the performances. Tom Hudgins led the group before the presentation and the leadership from Shalom prayed with each group individually at the end. Over 200 people attended and praise God, there were 50-60 salvations. And last night was the dress rehearsal for the church people but they brought their neighbors and friends anyway!

Our prayers have been answered regarding concerns about school closings in Guatemala City because of the swine flu affecting attendance. The schools were reopened today and the people do not seem concerned with being around crowds. One other prayer request prior to our trip was to keep the weather decent because it is the rainy season and we are having rain but not overwhelming.

Shalom has caught the vision of using Judgement House as a tool to reach people for Christ. Wallace Costa, the International Director of JH, took a team from Guatemala to El Salvador in February to observe Judgement House. This really helped in visualizing how a presentation like Judgement House can be used to help build the kingdom.

The team from Calvary Baptist Church, Clearwater has been building sets for Judgement House but we have also been building relationships with the people at Shalom. This is our second year coming to Guatemala and there are future trips planned, including one next June, when our Senior Pastor, Willie Rice will be accompanying the group. There is much work for Christ to be done here and Calvary desires to be a part of building God´s kingdom in Guatemala. It has been an incredible experience and we are looking forward to tonight and another opportunity to reach this city with the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Judgement House

The group of 20 from Calvary Baptist Church, Clearwater, Florida, arrived in Guatemala City in time to arrive at Shalom Baptist Church and start working on Judgement House. The folks at Shalom assigned rooms and have been rehearsing the drama for months. Our role is to facilitate, assist add the finishing touches to Judgement House. The 2009 goal for Shalom Baptist Church is to have 2000 people receive Christ as their Savior, and we hope to be a big part of that by presenting the message of Christ through Judgement House.

On Sunday, we participated in an awesome worship experience as a team prior to church and then with the fellowship at Shalom. Half our team formed a choir and presented two songs and then Tom Hudgins preached from John 15 about five ways to have intimacy with God. After church, we changed into work cloths and worked with some members from Shalom to get the sets ready for Judgement House, which starts on Wednesday.

Prayer, prayer, prayer-Please pray that people will come to Judgement House and make spiritual decisions. Pray for the spiritual and physical heath of the team.

Latino Lunch Fundraiser-Calvary Baptist Church, Clearwater, Florida

June 27, 2009 is when we fly to Guatemala City, Guatemala to partner with Shalom Baptist church and assist with a dramatic presentation called "Judgement House" Before leaving we are having meetings to learn about Guatemala, share prayer requests, and prepare for the drama. Our prayer is that at least 100 people make a spiritual decision.
